Let's be 'real' about Net Neutrality

How many times have we had to repeat the same rhetoric and arguments about Net Neutrality in the last few years? If we go back to SOPA, then we're easily five years plus into this whole debacle.

I could simply repeat one of my earlier journals, but all that would really manage to do is to recycle the same thing over again.

Here's the real question: despite prior successes/rulings, is the internet any less censored now than it was back in 2012? No, things are objectively worse now across the board.

Why is that?

The answer is simple: monopolistic practices and 'outside forces' trying to regulate content and tone on-line.

The real discussion that should be happening at this point is questioning why companies like Google, Amazon, Comcast and even AT&T are allowed to keep growing way beyond the barriers of 'trusts'. Chances are that, depending on your area in the United States, you may only have one truly viable internet provider choice and there's no guarantee of getting the performance you're paying for.  At this point the FCC is likely to be used as a scapegoat for whatever form of throttling will further manifest in the pursuit of '>muh profits' on-line for ISP and major on-line companies. Most normies won't care as long as they still get to watch their Netflix and Amazon Prime without too many buffering screens.

It's not as though the EU's 'anti-hate speech' laws are directly impacting major internet sites policies worldwide already. Oh wait.

was there ever such a thing as 'Net Neutrality' to begin with? The first decade or so aside...?
